A ketone test can alert you to diabetic ketoacidosis, a dangerous consequence of diabetes (DKA). A medical emergency known as diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is brought on by serious complications from diabetes mellitus. As insulin levels fall, glucose in the bloodstream cannot enter the body's cells and tissues, which results in diabetes mellitus.
